Just spent $71 for a terrible starchy dinner. Too bad-- I have a sweet memory of Argerios from 30 yrs ago. I got gnocchi that clearly wasn't fresh, terrible marinara sauce that had poor seasoning and old Italian bread. Meatballs that cost extra were mealy and bread was old. Sad to say, I won't be back. Carmen, this was the first time I've been there in several years. It wasn't just the gnocchi--bread was dry, marinara wasn't good and meatballs were flavorless. We used to live nearby and would visit fairly often before we had kids and moved to Chelsea. I loved the ambiance, but my visit last time made me wonder if you should contact that English chef who helps restaurants turn around--the food really needs a makeover. Sorry for the poor feedback, but I work in quality improvement and would be doing you a disservice if I didn't let you know about our experience.

After a week long business trip, I didn't feel like making dinner. I was really in the mood for some old school Italian. None of this modern, weird ingredient combo stuff. True spaghetti and meatballs. I heard Argerio's was just the place. I will admit, it's in a very quaint area of Ann Arbor in Kerrytown, and it's vintage exterior and neon sign has always appealed to my curiosity. Unfortunately the interior could use a serious facelift. When I see a restaurant that looks outdated, I immediately think it's been neglected and therefore must be dirty. It probably isn't, but that's where I my mind goes. The food was average. Nothing bad, but did not blow me away either. I ordered lasagna which was pretty tasty. My husband ordered manicotti, and the sauce was a little watery. But not too bad. I've learned to make some pretty good Italian food and with all of the other Ann Arbor choices, I probably wouldn't pick Argerio's as a favorite, but there was nothing overly terrible about it.

Not bad but, it was a let down. This is family owned place that's been around since the 60's or 70's and the lasagna was the worst we've ever had. Too bad, good location and very nostalgic but we won't be back.

Overpriced and the food was pretty average. I had an eggplant Parmesan that was more cheese than anything else. There is a nice outdoor patio with a lot of seating.

This place was fantastic. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce alongside with the Fettuccini Alfredo, it was delectable. The salads were fresh and the canoli with coffee was wonderful finish. Our server was excellent, though slow, very proficient. The atmosphere of a midsummer night meal on the patio was charming, only to be perfected by the light Frank Sinatra playing in the background. Wonderful for date night!

The staff were friendly and efficient, but the food is pretty terrible. I ordered the Veal Piccatta ($22) and found it to be extremely unpalatable. The meat was chewy and undercooked, and I ended up spitting half of it into my napkin. The vegetables were covered in burnt garlic. The bread was weird and hard to describe. There were no other guests there on a Friday night, so I should have taken that as a sign.

My wife and I have been to Argiero's many times and have always enjoyed it. Typically one of us will get the meat lasagna, which is our favorite lasagna in the area. All of the pasta dishes have been great as well. They have a straightforward approach to their dishes and let the ingredients do the work. Every once in a while, when they're busy, the service will slow. We've never had anything outrageously bad however. I recommend going at night and sitting on the patio for a cool scene and some people watching. Btw...they've served us bread every time...and it's yummy.

I had purchased a Double Take Deal online and was dissapointed. My husband had a rare Saturday off and I took him out for lunch. The restaurant wasn't full and we were seated quickly. The lunch menu had a variety of options. Salads. Panini's and sandwiches, pizzas, and small pasta dishes. To begin our meal my husband ordered a bottle of Labatt Blue. $4.25 for a Labatt's is a little steep. I decided on a cocktail and had a drink (don't recall the name) that consisted of Three Olives Cherry Vodka, lemon lime soda and marachino cherries. I got a drink that tasted like cherry 7up sans the marachino cherries. It was nice, but had no kick. Call me crazy, but for $7 I would like to know there was alcohol in my cocktail..... The watiress brought bread and butter. It was nice, but we never got any silverware. For lunch I ordered a sandwich. Again I forget the name. It consisted of salami, cheese, lettuce, dressing and bread. This would be good, but there was a LOT of bread, some cheese, salami, and nice amount of lettuce and no dressing. It was dry and bland. Some tomato would be nice. Dressing would be nice too. My husband ended up ordering meat raviolil with meat sauce. He was happy with it, but for him, bland is better. I had a taste of the sauce and I didn't care for it at all. Given I had the coupon we also ordered a pizza for dinner. I waited to write my Yelp Review until we had the pizza. We just finished it and I thought it was bland, to say the least. The sauce and pepperoni had no spice at all. The large pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and green olive ended up being $20. Not worth the money. Overall, the service was ok. The food wasn't great. I wouldn't be back. Oh, and the parking is horrible! You really need to be familiar with Ann Arbor to find a place to park. I don't reccomend it on a Saturday during the Farmers Market weekends!

Argiero's has always been a favorite for us when in Ann Arbor. Last night was very disappointing. FIrst the waiter spilled my husband's red wine which splashed on to my new slacks. The pasta (always the freshest) was very mediocre and tasted store-bought, the sauce had a distinct after-taste. My veal was so tough, I couldn't cut it and sent the dish back. What has happened to Argiero's? Two stars is for the location and people-watching patio.

My sister and I were excited to try Argiero's. Since it has been in business for so long, it had to be good, right? WRONG! Sooooooo wrong. We decided to just get an appetizer, which was clearly the right call, because it and the service were just awful. We ordered a caprese salad. In August. And somehow got a tomato from mid February, drowning in crappy olive oil. In addition, it took so long to arrive that I commented to my sister "how long does it take to put cheese on a plate?" Considering that there were only 3 other tables with people at them, service could have been quite a bit snappier. On the other hand, that should have been our clue to go elsewhere, which we ended up doing after we waited for forever for our bill, then gave up and left money on the table instead (awfully nice of us to do so, I might add). Needless to say, we will not return. There are so many other Italian restaurants in Ann Arbor, why bother? The owner should really take note of these reviews.

I've walked through Kerrytown many times and always been intrigued by the little, well-worn Italian place on the corner with the pretty, cheerily lit patio. So today, my boyfriend and I decided to pop in and see what the dining experience was like. To be brief, we were seriously underwhelmed. The hostess and waitress seemed disinterested, and the food was wholly mediocre. First of all, we didn't get any bread. (At an Italian place? Blasphemy!) The calamari was bland and did not seem fresh, the mustard tartar sauce was a bit strange (we asked for marinara and got legit marinara pasta sauce...10 minutes later after reminding our waitress...), and no one filled up our waters (come onnn). The bland eggplant parmesan did not come with pasta, and so we decided to order spaghetti separately (for the steep price of $5). The spaghetti was worse than something I could have made at home. And the spaghetti was served with a very sweet, 2-dimensional sauce that conflicted with the sauce in the eggplant parm. To top it all off, it was EXPENSIVE. $30+ for two people, without drinks. Seriously? (We do have to admit that the table next to us got complex looking salads and pizza, which looked a lot more appealing than what we ordered.) Hopefully the establishment will pick up the quality so they can turn new customers into regulars. Until that happens, we won't be going back.

Well to start the service was particularly slow. We didn't get an order taken for about 15 minutes and by the time we got our food we were 35 minutes in. They ran out of bread but didn't tell us until we were 25 minutes in and I asked A member in my party didn't get their salad brought out to them when the rest of us did and even had to ask for it 5 minutes after we got ours. We ordered the gnoci and it was pretty good. We sat on the porch and it was a very pleasant.

The 1 Star is on loan. We want it back. Sometimes an icon gets lost in its own visions of grandeur.... I had the pleasure or misfortune to eat at Argiero's in Ann Arbor near the U of M campus. It was a sad affair. We started by having reservations. Once we arrived and were seated we were told some other party had reserved the table and we had to move. Interesting in that the group that took our table had only one more diner than we did. We had three, you do the math. Once we moved ourselves and our belongings we ordered. Now understand we have been here before and my lovely wife was here a great deal when she was on campus. The server was pleasant enough, but became impatient when my wife inquired about portion sizes. Then we ordered. The drama worsened. The sauce for the gnocchi tasted as if it had just come out of a can and had not been warmed up to add flavor. The comment was - it tasted like a bad picante sauce. Also it was ordered with portobello mushrooms that tasted pickled and fresh out of the jar (cold) - so much for sautéed, fresh mushrooms. My dish was simple - paste with olive oil and garlic and make it spicy please. Well it had a few pieces of garlic that were crunchy and a few that were identifiable pieces of what? At no time could you taste the garlic or the spice. It was at best penne with oil. I added cracked black pepper and a pinch of salt to give it something. The third dish was a spaghetti but the sauce was no different than the one for gnocchi. The one highlight was the minestrone soup. Well so much for being an icon... To call the food pedestrian would be heaping too much praise...

Went here for Restaurant Week with my boyfriend and honestly I think we were both a little disappointed. Nothing was wrong with the service or the food, it just wasn't special or amazing by any means. I don't think we would go back unless we had another deal. The tiramisu was good though!

Feh. We were greeted on a Saturday evening by a listless, bored hostess who Initially seated us by a huge party then seemed annoyed when we did not want to be part of the hilarity. Our waitress was fine and we got OK calamari, OK salad/soup, and mediocre pasta. My partner's pasta with sausage was very dry but benefited from a shot of marinara; my pasta with eggplant sauce had a delicious sauce but the pasta was boiled to the point of liquefaction. We won't be returning, much better Italian restaurants in Ann Arbor.

We've been going here for years! The meat lasagne is awesome, fresh bread and delicious salads. Not a fancy, interesting or adventurous menu but consistently delicious.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
